The Champlain Valley Farmer Coalition is pleased to welcome our new Office Administrator, Francis Guarascio! Francis comes to the Farmer Coalition with a background in natural resources, environmental policy, and systems thinking. He received a bachelor’s degree from the University of Connecticut (2021) in Maritime Studies and a Master of Science from the University of Edinburgh (2023) in the management of Bioeconomy, Innovation, and Governance with a thesis focused on mitigating catastrophic floods and landslides in Nepal and Bangladesh. During this time, he interviewed farmers for best practices at reducing erosion and bolstering soil health to restore ecosystems for the provision of nature based solutions and ecosystem based disaster risk reduction. Francis is a student at the University of Vermont in the Natural Resources PhD program, focusing on energy democracy and grid resilience.
With a commitment to agro-ecological justice, he is excited by the opportunity to work for an organization that supports mission-driven projects aimed at preserving and restoring Vermont’s vital soil health and supporting generations of future famers to thrive.
We are thrilled to have someone with Francis’ broad education and experience join our team and look forward to working with him!
