Are you curious about alternatives to herbicides for cover crop termination? Do you have questions about harvesting a cover crop? Join Nea-Tocht Farm, UVM Extension, and the Champlain Valley Farmer Coalition for a field-based event on May 8 to learn about how the Vander Weys harvest their triticale cover crop, and terminate what’s left without any herbicides.
Whether you’re a conventional farm that terminates using herbicides, or an organic farm considering planting cover crops in the future, this event is for you! We also welcome technical service providers looking to expand their knowledge on cover crop termination.
Howard and Sid Vander Wey of Nea-Tocht Farm will discuss their cover cropping strategies, including how they harvest cover crops for forage, how they terminate their cover crops without herbicides, and their thoughts on the impacts of how their cover crops promote soil health and water quality. This will be followed by a Q & A and group discussion.
Lunch will be provided.
Please register by Monday, May 5, by emailing or calling Shawn Lucas shawn.lucas@uvm.edu / 859-221-6682.
